The Space Shuttle Discovery orbiter, also known as OV-103, first took flight on August 30, 1984, from the Kennedy Space Center in Merritt, Florida. The champion of the Shuttle fleet, Discovery would go on a total of 39 flights including one that launched the Hubble Space Telescope. Today visitors can see Discovery at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum at Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia.
